Readathon 2012

Can you believe it’s Dewey’s annual 24 hour readathon today? For some reason, I had no idea until justaddbooks mentioned it this week, but I have a free (and probably very rainy) weekend so I’m going to take the opportunity to join in.

My plans? Well, I never go all out hardcore for readathon, so I won’t be reading for the whole 24 hours. And I really want to make the most of my reading time this year, so I’ll be keeping myself offline for a good portion the time. I’m going for short books this year and among my pile of choices are Helen Dunmore’s latest novel ‘The Great Coat’, ‘The Sense of an Ending’ by Julian Barnes and ‘The Thief’ by Meghan Whalen Turner. I’d also like to read a bit more of ‘Reading Lolita in Tehran’, which I’m discussing with litlove as we make our way through.

I’ll be cheering during hour 11, or 12 to keep up the spirits of anyone who’s around. For now, have fun and a successful readathon *salutes*.

Peta (the bookling) here - hope you have a lovely time reading! I had missed that it was readathon time again but will take this news as a sign I should curl up with a book for a couple of hours :)

I really enjoyed The Thief and I think it would be a good choice for this event, because it's not all froth by any means but moves along at quite a clip and is quite entertaining. Hope you enjoy it and all your other read-a-thon reading!

It's too bad the only way to get some serious reading done on Readathon day is to avoid all the internet-y fun. I always spend way too much time on the computer and miss out more on the reading part. Ironic much? ;-) Anyhow, hope the reading is going great for you! =D

I hope you got some good reading time in. I agree about keeping off the internet, lol, it definitely helps. It is however, part of the fun! THanks for stopping by my blog.
